The fishing industry continues to be a significant one since the dawn of mankind, being a wealthy and reliable food source. It's changed and evolved overtime but still retained its core purpose. In the past the problem might have been grabbing sea life, today it's sustainability. Our population is much too high and need too great for the business to maintain. At this pace we will strip the oceans of its fish and be left with none. A remedy is essential, as this problem won't fix itself. Sustainability is the capability of something to be continued indefinitely, with few consequences to your environment. This means that if fishing has been renewable, we need to be able to fish the same quantity of fish, using the same methods, to provide our hungry inhabitants. However this isn't the situation; we know that the rate at which we eat/ utilization fish is significantly higher compared to the rate at which fish reproduce (fish really are a renewable supply, because they replenish themselves during reproduction). Additionally, the methods we utilize to fish are damaging to this environment, slowing hindering fish inhabitants and other species. Additionally, we know that our people and the economy are growing; therefore the need will increase significantly alongside them both. These factors combined clearly show that the fishing industry is not sustainable.
