The majority of these accidents might have been prevented from the crew if they would have been conveying to each other better. Some common mistakes that happen among the crew are inferior task delegation, assertiveness, and distractions. Crew training in communication and teamwork will raise the crews' performance level. Programs such as Crew Resource Management (CRM) have been designed to attempt to aid the crews work together and reduce the human factor in injuries. CRM includes instruction in leadership/followership, assertiveness, management, communication, teamwork, decision making, and task delegation. Through programs such as CRM crews learn how to work together as a team, and if they're working together it is less likely there will be an accident. INTORDUCTION Background The reason behind most aircraft accidents (65%) are by team error (FAA News, 1996). When the Crews performance level is low as a result of poor teamwork and communication this is when injuries occur. How can crew mistake be decreased? Even though human error can not be reduced entirely through continuous training and attempt by the team performance will increase and injuries will be reduced. Purpose/Audience This report is intended for a general audience and will reveal how important it is for your own flight and cabin crew to work together and communicate as a team. This report may also analyze the CRM program. Resources Resources have been obtained with this report from the Internet and in the Waldo Library, Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Mich.. .
