It's the story of two Jewish teenage boys coming of age in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York between 1944 and 1949. The writer of the book, Chaim Potok was a well known writer in the late 1960s. Chaim rose to literary prominence's when The Chosen turned into a best seller in 1967. Born in Bronx, New York, in 1929, Chaim such as Both teens in his publication grew up in Brooklyn, New York. Both his mother and dad were strictly observant Orthodox Jews and didn't support his interest in writing, because they did not need any of their sons engaged in activities beyond the community. This conflict with his parents certainly shows up in different ways in this book, because the book is mostly about Chaim's life and the figures relate to him. Inside this well written book, we get to see two ultra vibrant Jewish teenagers develop. From "Growing Up" it usually means that the boys will learn how to balance their responsibilities to Judaism and diverse customs that are beneficial and not great for each of the Jewish Communities at the moment.
