Bilbo Baggins, a reputable and unadventurous hobbit, is usually paid a go to by Gandalf, a sorcerer, who provides him the opportunity to move on an experience. Though at 1st Bilbo quakes at the recommendation of reaching a dragon, he can be questioned upon hearing the dwarves' disparaging his courage and capabilities. Stung by their comments, Bilbo punches himself into the experience with uncharacteristic boldness and perseverance. The adventures start quickly; the Bilbo and dwarves are caught by three trolls, who put them into sacks. They are kept by Gandalf, who sets the trolls squabbling among themselves until daybreak, when they are all changed to rock. Once arranged free of charge, the dwarves discover the trolls' cave, where they discover meals, platinum, and weapons.
