The focus and essence of My Brilliant Career by Miles Franklin is determined by the interactions and relationships of Sybylla Melvyn (the essential character of the publication), towards different characters. The manners in which she reacts to various people and why she reacts in a specific fashion, are perhaps more critical and fascinating to the reader, than any different event throughout the novel. Sybylla's logic and thinking about himself, other people and life, have been embraced by her very influential connections with her mother and dad. Her view on life and the roles of men and women has also been affected by literature she has read. Additionally, her gaze along with her parents in childhood and as a young lady has made its mark to her additional relationships, especially with men. The most prominent male relationship Sybylla experiences is with her lover, Harold Beecham.
