The Unexpected Downside of Science Explored at Aldous Huxley's Brave New World Since the first day that people were put on the earth, they have been interested and have hunted for ways to become more effective. Through the years they have made tools to better serve them, created clothing to keep them warm, constructed homes to protect them from the elements, and produced transportation methods to transfer them around the globe. In Aldous Huxley's Brave New World (1932), the human race has evolved to being exceptionally efficient in everything that they do. This efficiency involves producing new human beings. Science has taken more than altered the society. Imagine not having a family to care for you or you for them. In Huxley's book, gave birth to your baby was not done. At Huxley's "new world," babies were produced rather than being born by a mom. These babies were then physically and emotionally matured in accordance with their collection task in existence. They were created according to what position they would maintain in life. From the time that they were produced, they were conditioned to enjoy what they had been to perform and just that. They were taught to enjoy everything they had and never need anything else. Because of this conditioning, everyone had a place on the planet and collectively, everyone created a happy society.
