Cosmopolitan is a women's magazine for fashion, sex advice, dating tips and celebrity information. This magazine has existed since 1886, but it had a completely different concept, until 1965. When it was initially launched in 1886 by Paul Schlicht, it had been considered a family magazine. It wasn't until 1965 when a woman by the name of Helen Brown took on the magazine at seeking somewhere girls could go to find information on various topics. Since Cosmo includes explicit information that is not advised to people under eighteen, its market is women who are in the ages of eighteen and older, Some grocery stores have to pay this up due to the complaints of its sexually explicit headlines. Kim, PhD, postdoctoral research fellow at the middle for Research on Gender and Sexuality at San Francisco State University stated, "Cosmopolitan put female sexuality out there on the front page, where everybody could see it at the grocery store."
