Causes of this Easter Uprising In the mid 1800s the course of Irish history has been changed forever. The Irish have been ruined by The Great Potato Famine of the mid to late 1800s. Population dropped from more than eight million individuals from 1840 to beneath 4.5 million in 1900 due to immigration and death (O’Rourke 2). The weaker Irish folks, unlike many British taxpayers, relied almost solely on agriculture. The Irish immigrationn't only influenced Ireland and Britain, but its affects were felt across much of the planet, including the USA. The famine had a substantial influence on the potential for Irish background such as Home Rule legislation, The Easter Uprising of 1916, and the eventual production of an Irish free state in the early twentieth century. From the early 1900s, Irish nationalists were fed up with the British rule that had dominated Ireland since its existence. The Irish in this scenario closely resemble the American Colonists prior to the American Revolution. The Irish believed as if the British did not represent them well and they wanted to conduct their own country and govern themselves. There were lots of smaller rebellions and confrontations involving some Irish citizens and also the British army all throughout Ireland's background with the purpose of lowering the morale of British troops who occupied Ireland, or from captivity to specific activities by the British. But, there was no coordinated uprising with a objective of completely removing the British such as the Easter Uprising in 1916.
