"Native Americans" what's the first thing that springs to mind if you think of them? Some people think of savages that are bent on serving their gods and spirits. Most others consider peaceful folks that are welcoming, very spiritual and very conventional. Unfortunately, the Native Americans were treated quite badly when the white man arrived. As time went on it got worse to them. The Westward Movement and the Path of tears were a dreadful time in history for the Native Americans. White Americans were cruel to the Native Americans during this period of time. The westward railroad significantly enhanced the economic and fiscal status of America but in doing so, it also significantly hurt the Native Americans. The railroads also improved travel, along with the expansion to the west. After the expansion started, white Americans started running to Native Americans and their territory. The whites saw the natives as a distraction and a issue. The government began ordering the citizens and government officials to start killing each one the buffalo, thinking it would kill the indigenous by taking their food. Buffalo are Americas native "cattle" that the natives relied heavily upon for warmth and food, the natives used the skin of the buffalo as clothe. The railroads were a lot of help to farmers as well. This was a fantastic help because the railroad allowed them to market their produce from town and earn more income. Farming was also a great threat to the Native Americans. As a way to farm you'd need acres and acres of property. The farmers had been running out of space so they started forcing the Native Americans out their land. But times were a little tougher for a lot of people. The Oregon Trail was another option for some people, also.
