Salem Witch Craft Back in 1962 the punishment of witchcraft was to be smashed or suspended. There was a large outburst of both witchcraft and spells which were going around among the people of Massachusetts in 1962. Some of the girls of Salem started the witchcraft many individuals began to grab on and fallow them. A lot of these people were hung do to what the bible said about the wrongs of witchcraft. When these women of Salem Massachusetts began to do witchcraft and move it on to other folks they were placed on trial because of their activities, which at the time was, illegal. It had caught on around England and has been spreading fast. Arthur Miller created a drama called the Crucible that was on the Salem witchcraft trials. Arthur miller required the historic accounts and changed them to be acceptable for the play. The crucible had lots of alterations to the historical documents that happened in1962 that were at the characters, the historic differences, and why the theme of history was altered. Writer Miller took the narrative of the Salem witchcraft trials and wrote the drama “The Crucible.” There certainly were plenty of differences between the two. The gaps between the characters were modified to create the play have a larger meaning. Betty Parris’ mom was not dead when the trials were happening she'd died in 1696, four decades after the trials. The crucible refers to Abigail Williams as Rev. Paris’ niece.
