The CCRI Players presented a showcase of student talent at a series of short scenes and plays throughout the limited involvement of Blocks, Blacks, also Bentwoods in March 4th-7th from the Buddy Hackett Theatre at Knight Campus. Drawing from talent both on-stage and behind the scenes from a large number of recent productions at CCRI, the lines of the scenes have been primarily vehicles to its celebrities. This performance-first philosophy is plainly evident from the minimalistic stage dressing: a little round dining table; two little stools, even more poles really [the blocks], painted a dark matte to coordinate with the place; and a white fabric hung as a backdrop and cordoned off using black curtains [the blacks] to define the working area backstage. The single thing to catch the eye will be the colorful chaos of marks recorded to the ground, a number of things to come [including that the bentwoods, side seats for the table used in later sections]. The generation was split into two chief parts, the first being audition bits from these delicate thespians nominated for the Irene Ryan Acting Auditions. Every pun consisted of two partnered scenes along with also a monologue, and it was clearly evident why these players were so chosen. Laura Minadeo, who's also the president of this Flanagan PlayersвЂ™ Club, started the segment with two scenes of women dealing with uncertainty; one [im]patiently awaiting her [just as anxious and conflicted] partner for the outcomes of some pregnancy test, another with, well... more complex issues. The break from 1 scene to the next was barely acknowledged with a pause from Ms Minadeo along with her equally gifted scene spouse, Alexander Rotella.
