Elephantiasis is an illness in which a limb or other part of the human body gets grossly enlarged due to obstruction of the lymphatic system, typically by the nematode parasites that cause Filariasis. Filariasis is a tropical disease caused by the existence of filarial worm, when someone contracts the disease, this one can later create elephantiasis. Another word of elephantiasis is Lymphatic Filariasis, which is a parasitic disease caused by the African eye worm, a microscopic thread-like pig: ribbon worms are small, white and thin, they infect the human bowels; more common in kids but anyone of any age may be affected with it. This disorder is transmitted from host to host with blood-feeding arthropods, mostly black flies and mosquitos. They're many different filarial nematodes using humans as their complete host. Lymphatic Filariasis is cause by the worms Wuchereria bancrofti, Brugia malayi, and Brugia timori. These worms occupy the lymphatic system, including the lymph nodes. In the most severe circumstances, these worms cause the disorder elephantiasis. Elephantiasis may also happen in the absence of parasitic infection. This nonparasitic type of elephantiasis is known as “nonfilarial elephantiasis” or “podoconiosis”, and regions of high incidence have been recorded in Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Sudan, Egypt and Ethiopia. Podoconoisis is a disorder of the lymph vessels of the lower extremities which is caused by chronic exposure to irritant soils. Nonfilarial elephantiasis is thought to be caused by persistent contact with irritant soils: specifically, red clays rich in alkali metals like sodium and potassium and associated with volcanic activity. In locations where filariasis is endemic, the most frequent cause of elephanti...
