Analysis of Alice Walker's short fictional tale, "Nineteen Fifty-five" Alice Walker's short fictional tale, "Nineteen Fifty-five", revolves around the encounters among Gracie Mae Still, the narrator, and Traynor, the "Emperor of Stone." Traynor as a potential singer purchases a melody from Mrs. Still, which becomes his "first strike record" and makes him wealthy and famous. However, he will not "even know" the track and spends his life time racking your brains on "what the tune means." The song he sings appears as fictional as certain events in this story, but as traditional as Traynor's based personality, Elvis Presley. Similarly, the narrator describes historic occasions, which happened during Elvis's life. Beginning in 1955 when Traynor, like Elvis just, at age group sixteen, started his profession as a singer. Furthermore, the narrator describes Traynor much like just how Elvis looked as a boy, "about five feet nine, type of womanish looking, with true dark and white epidermis and a crimson pouting mouth area" with "black and curly" locks.
