Comparing The Charge of the Light Brigade and the Defence of Lucknow by A. Tennyson Introduction The two poems 'The Charge of the Light Brigade' and also the 'Defence of Lucknow' are written by Alfred Lord Tennyson. (1809-1892). Both of these poems are related to two battles from the 19th century, so both of these battles concerned the British that were praised highly in the poems because you may see later on in my own essay. When composing these poems Tennyson was really pleased with the British for their bravery, he describes that in both the poems 'The Charge of the Light Brigade' and the 'Defence of Lucknow'. 'The Charge of the Light Brigade' involved the British, French and the Russians it had been composed by Tennyson and has been predicated on a factual life event that was the Crimean war. The English and the French were both fighting the Russians between 1854-1856. In this warfare The Charge of the Light Brigade occurred, the fee was an error from the British cavalry commander. There are many ways Tennyson describes the British as brave and courageous in this particular poem. Only 673 men were included, and they dropped 157 men out of 20 000 war deceased. The fee was actually misheard in the Lord Cardigan who had been the commander of the Light Brigade, the message was passed on from one individual to another which subsequently resulted in the charge. The 'Defence of Lucknow' is also on war, a part of the reason why the siege started is because was that the opponent was using each others fearful animal to dirt their mouths using their fat that the siege, involves the British and the Indians, however not all of the Indians were against the British some were still fighting along side the British too.
