THESIS STATEMENT Throughout the Renaissance, Florence gained from a mercantile economy due to the guilds, the quality and wide variety of products and the style and direction of the market place. PURPOSE STATEMENT Through historical and economic data this research paper will say how Florence prospered from a mercantile economy in the Renaissance. INTRODUCTION The Renaissance has been the rebirth of both Europe and it all began in the city of Florence. Florence and everything which created a standard Renaissance city: painters, sculptors, architects, writers, and also a vivid culture. Soon all of Europe would follow in Florence's footsteps and "the atmosphere is indeed rich, varied, rambunctious, and inventive as Italy in the Renaissance" (Cohen 1). The painters and sculptors described Renaissance culture and could really make a living since they were being sponsored. The Renaissance has been the age of the merchants and as a result of the merchants the savings and civilization climbed. The Renaissance is remembered by many people for the works of Michelangelo, Da Vinci, and Raphael. What a lot of folks don't know about the Renaissance is that the textile business was more famous and profitable than the manufacturing industry. Florence was the spot to acquire any of your products due to its location. Merchants went to Florence to market their unique goods, purchase, sell, or create cloth, and wait the guilds.
