"A quiet secluded lifestyle at the country, together with the chance of being useful for individuals to whom it is easy to do well, and who aren't accustomed to do it to them...such is my notion of happiness." (Tolstoy) The differences between the lifestyles of both the rural and the urban legends happen to be written into literature, primarily poetry because the very idea of the city was developed. By the time that these two groups started to identify themselves, these differences started to form. Plenty of authors have offered their views on what it means to live in the nation, and the town alike. Robert Frost is just one such poet. He has a countless number of works that concentrate their subjects on the gaps between both of these groups. Robert Frost is very highly known for his depictions of rural life, drawing images from his own life. One such case of this being that the poem Birches, where Frost describes the life span of a boy in a rural setting.
