When I discovered that my English class had to do a Research Paper, '' I became horrified. I believed students simply did this when they were completing graduate school maybe not when they were beginning their first year in college. All I knew about search papers was that there is an overwhelming quantity of research to do. And so, I chose to choose 1 word that would hopefully lead me to an interesting topic. I put my search limits to manuscripts and hunted the term murder. There, the first name near the top of the page was Sirica, John. John J. Sirica spent his younger years at Georgetown University studying legislation. He worked in a small law firm as an attorney, but eventually became active in Republican Party politics. Back in 1957, President Dwight D. Eisenhower picked him, as the chief judge for the U.S. District Court for D.C. Being chief judge; Sirica didn't utilize conventional methods in the courts, but rather used his own method of getting to the base of the truth. He played with a famous role in the Watergate Scandal and at the murder trial of Robert Louis Ammidown. Eventually, I discovered an interesting topic that was worth sticking with. The court case United States v. Ammidown was fascinating for me, so that I immersed myself to finding sources to support my study topic.
