To be able to accelerate the ladder of society, most folks oppress those traits that cause them to failure. Throughout the 1950's and 1960's, homosexuality was visiting as a mental illness of the human race. Homosexuals did not match from the schema of the American family. Tennessee Williams, in his own drama "The Cat on the Hot Tin Roof"that shows the effects of society´s views about homosexuals through the main character Brick. Besides Williams´ drama, the theatrical perform, "Doubt" by John Shanley, also depicts the conflicts that an African American child undergoes in order to curb his sexuality. Both plays reveal two personalities in different social groups and from other races hoping to survive the denial of culture towards their sexual orientation. Through their oppression by man hegemony and also with the support of their maternal figure in each drama, both Brick and Donald struggle to overcome their fear of acceptance. The patriarchal figures in both plays are depicted as Pairing. In other words, both man characters impression that their rules must be obeyed and the expectations that they have for their children must be surpassed. Tennessee Williams, depicts Big Daddy as the leader of Brick´s household. Big Daddy is described as an old aristocratic man, living in a home made. Big Daddy represents the successful American men during the 1950´therefore a person of electricity and family priorities. Although this patriarchal figure shows his love for his family via materialism, he also portrays a dominating face through his action towards his son.
