The Assumption of the Virgin since I walked through the halls of the Art institute, I saw many paintings and sculptures. 1 painting that stood out the most was called, "The Assumption of the Virgin," by El Greco. As I stood facing this huge painting I had been attempting to figure out what was going on at the painting. Right away I could tell that petroleum was used to paint this portrait since there was a shine on the painting. I refused to read the description of this painting before I came to a finish. I stood there trying to determine what was taking place in and if I managed to recognize anyone. On the top area of the painting I could point out that the angels and the women in the center, at first glance I could tell that the women was Virgin Mary. Like I was view the underside region of the painting, I noticed that the guys seemed confused as though they didn't understand what was going on. Seeing this painting in person seemed different from seeing painting online. I could definitely see how the artists used colors to make this painting stand out, and also how he was able to show two scenes in 1 painting. Interviewing the artist. Mr. Greco , I understand you painted this portrait in 1577. It was your very first significant commission once you arrived in his adopted country of Spain after training in Italy. It was commissioned for the central plank of the high altar of the church of Santo Domingo el Antiguo in Toledo. I've done a bit of research in your work and it seems like you like doing spiritual paintings, paintings which may the viewer a narrative. You seemed to be very interested in Renaissance Art, and your style of painting also looks like Renaissance art. You decided to do this painting for your Church of Santo Domingo el Antiguo. I decided to analyze your painting because it stood out the most. The very first thing grabbed my attention was that the option of colours you used on your own painting. The colours seemed very bright, so I did not see many dark colors in the painting and from dark colors I mean black, something that shows sadness. The clarity in your painting was totally fabulous.
