The use of the Circus Folk in 'Hard Times' from Charles Dickens The part of this circus is both complex and easy it is in itself a contradiction; it's been placed inside the publication to add a different dimension to the narrative of Coketown but also to show just how fragile human nature can be. The circus people role are complicated in their simplicity, they're obviously there to carry out the role which they're compensated to function as actors or actors in addition to being there for the second more complex job of showing the notion of elaborate inside the novel. There are many sides to the circus it is a multi talented organisation each of the members work more than one job they are multi skilled workers who reside and work together as a big extended family there is affection and friendship in a lot of ways and in most form. The thought of the circus with its own extended family along with the multi job roles is really a contradiction to the notions of Coketown and Gradgrind, in Coketown all of the workers have singular project roles and job abilities, and they are not multi talented instead they understand just one job. It becomes more and more evident the use of the circus when the reader is confronted with this understanding which Coketown and Gradgrind are interested only in reality which neither believes nor promote consciousness of any type. Really it is Gradgrind inside the very first line of this book that informs us as the reader that the message he and Coketown take “Facts alone are desired in life” (Charles Dickens: pg1, Hard Times, 1854). This is the reason if the reader is first introduced to the concept of the circus i.. .
