(Company Insider, 2014) Even though social networking differs from traditional media outlets such as newspapers and television as it permits users to create content to advance their own thoughts, social networking outlets also have become massive corporations that function in exactly the same way as bulk media in using our labor, attention and information as product to create profit. Within this paper, I'll summarize the way Marxist ideologies of power and exploitation are still at play beneath the new guise of Internet and accessibility freedom that social networking claims to supply.
