A Lesson About Life in The Stolen Party In Liliana Heker's story, "The Stolen Party," the young kid Rosaura is hurt since she is a casualty of a course structure that keeps the rich on the very top and people like her and her mom at the bottom of society. From the end of the narrative Rosaura will have learned an essential lesson in course structure that, since it's so traumatic for her, and she'll fulfill her for the rest of her lifetime. The very first signs we see which affirms the claim that this is a story of course structure comes when Rosaura's mother says to her, "I really don't like you, it's a rich people's party" (Heker 1133). This lets the reader know that the mom is aware of the manners of the world. She knows that she and Rosaura will be the help in the eyes of all Senora Ines, so obviously the mother understands that there is a great chance Rosaura is going to likely be treated as such. Regrettably, the mother was right. In the sane time that the reader is also shown that Rosaura hasn't learned about discrimination in our society. This is known when Rosaura states, "Rich individuals go to heaven too" (Heker 1133). It's too bad that this innocent child, or for that matter almost any child, must find out the painful facts of upper class/lower class relations at this youthful age. In actuality, nobody should ever learn this lesson, it's a flaw in our society which we place people into courses at all. Next, the fact that Rosaura believes she will be only another guest in Luciana's party proves again that she is oblivious of course construction. Rosaura's mother tells her that Luciana is not her friend, which in her eyes Rosaura is only the maid's son.
