Mixed Martial Arts is probably the most misunderstood, safest, and most favorite full contact game in the current moment. Since 1998, there were over 70 boxing related deaths, while in sanctioned MMA events there have only been two! MMA has been in existence for centuries and it was not widely known until early 1990s with the coming of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The UFC initially was considered violent, barbaric, and criticized by Senator John McCain, calling it, "human cockfighting," but in a 2007 meeting with ESPN, he softened his stance and stated,"Though it is not my favorite game, the UFC is earning advancement of cleanup the game from what it used to be." (Smith 1).) Visually, MMA seems very barbaric and dangerous but MMA is among the most powerful sports and needs to be considered such. First of all, mixed martial artists are named as "brainless violence junkies" as critics have put it. But in many interviews with fighters, they are actually the most respectable, educated, considerate, and friendliest folks one can ever meet. All those who are just ordinary people trying to encourage their own families and appreciate doing their jobs as professional fighters. Most MMA critics do not see exactly how MMA has helped folks get off the roads and away from problem. Court McGee, winner of The Ultimate Fighter year 11 finale(reality series), at a post-fight interview in tears said, "I devote this struggle to anybody that struggled. In case you arrived out of where I came from to where I am today, you would have become the identical manner. My dad and mom taught me because I was a kid was supposed to work hard and never give up in your dreams, that's exactly what I did." (Morgan 1).) Court McGee is a good instance of the way MMA has helped.
