Paths of Glory, by Stanley Kubrick The film Paths of Glory, directed by Stanley Kubrick, handled the harsh circumstances in the trenches during WWI. In the film several fighters had been persecuted for pulling back again during an impossible strike. The film questioned the authority of excellent officers tactfully. What sort of hierarchy in the army is depicted in the film made me question the integrity of the machine. I was perplexed by the idea that one individual could have so very much power over another. The film diplomatically dealt with the plot by displaying different facets of an officer’s lifestyle. One of the areas of the movie which taken to life the psychological trauma of the battle was the use of music and instruments. The start of the movie was filled up with the use of drums. This symbolized the terror and complexity of the topic matter.
