The Louisiana Purchase is referred to as the greatest "real estate deals ever." This land included current Louisiana and part of Florida all the way north to Canada and expanded westward. This bit of land moved through various periods of possession between Spain and France prior to France sold the land to the United States. For a little while, lots of US citizens and congressmen did not know the importance of owning this piece of property, so when it came into Congress voting concerning the buy it nearly failed. Thomas Jefferson was known to be by the principles of the Constitution and has been originally fearful about enlarged the United States but with him the chances outweighed his dread. Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte commanded the Louisiana Territory, but battled against the British over this Wonderful deal of land. After fighting off the British, Napoleon was losing cash. Robert Livingston, a US minister to France, sent by the President to negotiate a whole lot about the US purchasing his land. Napoleon, refused at the start because he knew owning this property could make a significant impact in using a large empire. Initially only the Florida's and the port of New Orleans was the first offer for ten million dollars after which Napoleon had money to escape debit from fighting the British; then the entire territory was up for sale for the cost of fifteen million bucks.
