TL-I Technology Operations and Concepts What is college? A place to teach pupils a million truth about a million subjects? An area for students to restate what the teacher has said? Are schools a place for pupils to reveal their knowledge by taking many evaluations? I don't feel that these are my goals when it comes to teaching or into my own learning. I have moved from simple recall to one of deeper comprehension. I think technology is something which is essential in the present world to be able to collaborate, control, study, discussion, clarify, and current ideas. I believe it is my job as a teacher to determine a way to help students use technology more effectively. I feel technology in certain ways has always been part of my learning beginning in high school. I recall using word processing to write term papers. Next in college I used technologies to express my own thoughts, but don't remember professors using it to educate me. I remember using technologies to be able to recall information or to write my opinion, but not used as a collaboration tool. This way of thinking was not changed until I started teaching in a district that hired new technology supervisors, replaced technology standards, poured money to tech tools, and built up the tech infostructure of this district. This push from the district on utilizing technology efficiently helped to form my perspective of technology from the classroom. Within my first few years as a teacher, one of the fears I had with using technologies is I will use some program and later it will get obsolete.
