Consider Dickens's portrayal of Scrooge's shift in mindset at a Christmas Carol What message do you believe Dickens Conveys into the reader. He believed that you can just be merry by becoming wealthier. Scrooge said, " Christmas time time for paying bills without money and not an hour richer" This quote enforced the comment that Scrooge wasn't at the Christmas Spirit. In addition, it informs us Scrooge was concerned about paying bills and making money and becoming wealthier. Scrooge's lack of Christian charity was visible when two charity workers asked for donations and Scrooge refused. Scrooge said, "Are there any no prisonsworkhouses?" "I can not afford to make idle people merry" These two quotes refer to bad people; Scrooge didn't have some empathy towards those poor people.
