St. Cecilia has been thought to be born at 2nd century Rome. She had been an only child in a wealthy Roman familythat was educated, and was a devout Christian from early in her childhood. Cecilia had pledged her virginity to God, however she had been sworn in marriage to a mysterious man named Valerian. She wore sackcloth, fasted, and prayed to the saints and angels trusting to help keep her promise to God. On his wedding night, Cecilia advised Valerian that an angel kissed her entire body and that Valerian shouldn't emphasise her vow of virginity. Her prayers had been answered, and Valerian had been ready to take her as his spouse without forcing her to break her mommy. Her husband wanted to find the angel which defended her, however Cecilia advised him that he would need to get baptized in order to do so. Valerian went to be baptized by Pope Urban, and returned into Cecilia as a Christian. When he returned, he saw Cecilia praying inside her bedroom. Next to her was an angel with flaming wings, and he was holding two crowns of increased and lilies. He crowned both and them, and then disappeared.
