Jack Spicer writes affectionately about " the Kid". Perhaps his protagonist, certainly not a role model with no ethical standards, but the same that he meant something to a good number of individuals. Billy was nearly of Robin Hood standing, though I doubt any cash taken from everywhere by his hand had ever ended up in the house of the poor. Instead the child became an icon of their rebel in each man and the core of every kid. Spicer writes about the child as I myself might write of a dear fallen ancestor or fellow soldier. Is it that being that being so endeared to a man who's a fantasy might allow one to become a part of that myth, to share in its mystery. I myself have been advised that I am a relative of the guy who had been Johnny Appleseed. I've not looked at apples exactly the same. Of course Johnny appleseed and Billy the Kid are not quite comparable, the fact the I could get some type of connection out of hearing I am related to someone whom is only called a legend, even gives me a better comprehension of how somebody might write so colorfully about this type of person as Billy the kid. Individuals have made the child to be the protagonist or the hoodlum which suits their particular purposes. It is not entirely clear as to what Spicers goals and intentions are. It appears that Spicer has turned into something from the Life and passing of an urban legend. He writes in a manner that someone could perceive Billy the Kid as his brother. A particular pride that is detected in Spicers writing is that the pride he's in what Billy has been, or it may be the pride that he receives from knowing of Billy and feeling a part of the myth. Everyone can benefit from using a hero, a person to identify with and for any motive care about. Jack Spicer gives us his invention of Billy, the Billy that he can relate to. All of us have a Billy which we are able to relate to. Even past the tales of his brave tangles with the law. The kid has been said to have once shot a sheriff having a ri...
