"The Jungle" publication was composed by an American journalist/ novelist title Upton Sinclair at 1906. "The Jungle" created a big hit and became his best-selling novel because it revealed so well about the economic and social reality during that moment. The publication mainly explained about the way unsanitary the meat packaging industry was worked in Chicago along with the miserable life of the immigrants moving together with the industry. Throughout the narrative around the life and family of Jurgis Rudjus, a Lithuanian immigrant who comes to America with the impression to change their life and reside in a better condition, Sinclair conveys that "The Jungle" is a symbol of capitalism. Sinclair's contempt for capitalist society is present throughout the publication, demonstrated at the eagerness of Jurgis to function, the continuous struggle for survival of the workers in Packing the city along with the corruption of this man in any way levels of this society. Additionally, the author promotes socialism as a typical political society to replace capitalism. To begin with, what is capitalism? And why it's great and why it's bad. Capitalism is all about efficacy and get things done. "Capital" by itself means own, operation and trade for earning benefits with the most efficient way. Capitalism concentrates more on highlighting individual profits instead of on workers or culture as a whole. Capitalism offers free-market that generates the best economic result for society. Furthermore, capitalism is not favorable for lazy and laid back people because in order to live in the capitalist society, individuals need to work very hard so as to survive. However, capitalism will compensate well for individuals that are working hard and provide contributions to the society. That's its great side. Capitalism is a kind of political society.
