Internet Censorship Survey Topics of censorship between the different media have attracted lively responses from people when asked about them. The media classes of printing, radio and records now incorporate the Internet. I conducted a survey of individuals to learn that their opnion on the brand new medium. I asked people, "Do you think there should be censorship on the Internet?" . I ran this survey during the week of February 14, 1997. I especially chose this question due to these reasons: the current news reports of children being lured into injury after being contacted through Web; the reports of the access to pornography; the current cases attempted to the bases of obscenity legislation; the coming U.S. Supreme Court hearing on Web censorship; my own awareness of what's available on the Web; the fast-pace growth and presence of the Internet, along with the controversy of censorship on other mediums. Before conducting the survey, I called that Internet users could answer no to censorship online in overpowering numbers. So, I would need to inquire whether the individual used the world wide web. I also predicted that my question could be perceived as important simply to Internet users - I would have to convince someone that does not utilize the world wide web to answer my survey. I even thought I could conduct some of the survey on the Internet. I'd find out later that there have been lots of net users in my survey without running it online. I also predicted that younger participants could say no to censorship online. I predicted that the older the individual was, the more likely that they would support censorship online. I feel this because of my own adventures. I still believe.
