The American Civil War has been the biggest and by far the deadliest struggle in the Western world between the end of the Napoleonic Wars in 1815 and the Start of World War I in 1914. Northern success was the war that preserved the United States as one nation and broken the foundation of slavery that had separated the nation from its beginning (James McPherson, 2013). Back in the time of the Civil War, physicians did not have plenty of medication. There was not antibiotics and barley any vaccines because back in that time they didn't understand that germs caused many of the ailments.
