Character Evaluation of Elizabeth Proctor in The Crucible by Arthur Miller In the late sixteen hundreds, the fear of witchcraft was a Significant concern amongst New Englanders. Arthur Miller's book, The Crucible, tells the story of a town's obsession with stereotypical innocent people of witchcraft. All the accusers were young females that claimed they were assaulted by demonic specters. Members of the community allegedly sent out these wicked spirits, but in fact, the girls were doing it as sport. 1 such individual accused has been Elizabeth Proctor, wife of John Proctor, understood throughout the neighborhood for a noble woman. Throughout the publication Elizabeth turns out to be a moral, cold, and ascertained. Elizabeth's moral personality turns out to be an important factor throughout the book.
