The Impact of Jazz in Romare Bearden's function Romare Bearden was one of the most important African-american American performers of the twentieth century. He grew up in New York and led generally to the modern artwork of the Harlem Renaissance. He captured lively scenes of everyday life in his former hometowns of North Carolina, Harlem and pittsburgh. Some of his most regarded works take on the subject of music highly, blues and jazz in particular. He constructed music and performed in several jazz rings also. It is clear Romare Bearden's artwork from the Of the Blues series was highly influenced by the jazz and blues music of Harlem. In 1975, Romare Bearden developed a series of nineteen collages that he entitled Of the Blues. In that same calendar year an exhibit was kept at Cordier & Eckstrom Gallery in New York to feature these functions. The gallery was packed with collages offering New York night clubs and additional music moments. This series discovered jazz and from every position. Schwartzman says," both series tracked jazz from its people resources, secular and sacred, to the towns in which its main designs progressed (New Orleans, New York, Chi town, Kansas Town), to its performers then, and finally to its subjective noises". The collages from this exhibit demonstrated the extremely personal romantic relationship and discussion that Bearden got with music. He shows us that in the clubs, vibrant and loud music was performed. The music can nearly become noticed and experienced when observing a interpretation of those moments. A piece from 1974, entitled Of the Blues: Carolina Shout, was part of the series. It is normally a collection of what shows up to end up being a baptism picture. 1 can believe that from the statistics that stand above blue, watery forms that appears to be a physical body of water. The dark.
