There is one known really powerful writing style known as Gothic Literature. It isn't just deemed to involve the horror or gothic component but is combined with romance, superstition, girls in distress, omens, portents, eyesight and supernatural events to name a couple (Beesly). The history and beginning of this age isn't well known. From a few authors came this writing style that has influenced the entire world. A famed artists famous for this sort of writing is that a guy named Edgar Allan Poe. He composed many short stories and poems that have terror, gothic, and romance only mentioned. Gothic Tradition was said to have begun in Europe. Gothicism came in the Romanticism in the early 19th century (Novel Rags). Two people that are said to have started the gothic writing movement are Ann Radcliffe and Horace Walpole. They started this style with their tales: “The Mysteries of Udolpho” along with “The Castle of Otranto” (Book Rags). The gothic movement also came around because it was associated with the art and architecture during the Renaissance era. Edgar Allan Poe three major elements romance, horror, and supernatural events are all employed in his short poems and stories. Some of his most famous short stories are “The Raven”, “The Fall of the House of Usher”, “The Tell-tale Heart”, “The Black Cat”, “Eleonora”, along with “Annabelle Lee” (Book Rags). Some of his writing is gloomy and dark while some have love and humor. The first element Edgar used the most in his short stories is horror. Horror is an overpowering and debilitating feeling caused by something frightfully shocking, frightening, or revolting.
