Eugene Atget was born February 12, 1857 in France. He had been a photographer famous for his photographs documenting the street scenes and architecture of Paris. Eugene Atget was created directly outside the French town of Bordeaux. He was orphaned at age seven and raised by his uncle. After completing his schooling in the 1870s, Atget temporarily became a cabin boy and sailor on different ships sailing in the Transatlantic. Following that, Atget became an actor, but just obtained little parts in a second-rate repertory business. He had no success. Later on he met a girl named Valentine DeLafosse whom he finally married. Atget transferred to Paris in the 1890s. While he really did art before, he began doing photography since he needed cash. He offered his photographs to artists in a city called Montparnasse. He offered his photos as "documents for artists." Painters frequently did their paintings based on real photographs.
