During the center and past due third century Roman republic period offered rise to the arena video games and became an excellent phenomenon for the Romans. An amphitheater, also referred to as a coliseum, housed these dangerous video games that possibly harmed the audience along with those that participated in them. Gladiatorial fight originated within funerals for deceased influential Romans. These large gladiatorial video games were kept by emperors during funerals of essential roman officials, but were included during additional occasions also. Over time the bond among the gladiator games and funerals decreased, and the upper class placed on the games mainly to improve their social standing and gain favor with the general public. Many politicians kept these extremely known games to greatly help them sway votes of power and recognition (Meijer 2003, 27). “The arena was the embodiment of the empire.” (Futrell 1997, 209). The contestants, or the gladiators, acquired more need for the Roman Empire beyond that as their function of entertainment.
