A Demon Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark Well I can definitely see why this book was rated with five stars. I found Sagan's novel, "A demon Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark" one of the very eye-opening books that I have read in a really long time. I must admit that if this publication was first presented to me I realised exactly how good this would be. Here in my mind I was thinking "Ok I don't wish to read a novel about technology that I want to do engineering." However, the thought process went on and I must admit it was well worth reading this novel. Although the publication was slow to start, as most novels are, the speed picked up and took me right along for the journey. The major theme of the book was how much science not just opens are minds but also how much science affects our lives. I liked the case that Sagan uses close to the beginning of the story of how he had been at a gathering and asked everybody in the room just how many of these had not been assisted someway inside their lives by science. I thought the fact that only one person raised their hand was a Great way of showing just how influential mathematics is at everyone's lives. I think that there may also be another theme for this book. Another motif I saw to be quite present during the publication was the mere truth that science alone can not automatically answer queries but could give the flaws to somebody's story.
