Violence has been a leading negative aspect to society throughout history. Many researchers think that the use of violent media, particularly video games, play a massive role in the downward trend of behaviour and attitude of youth, and that this behavior has been spiral out of control. However, other researchers think that because violence has been happening since the start of time, which adolescence are as capable today of violence, even as they were a thousand years ago. Research has been found to link violent maladaptive behaviour to using video games, however other researchers believe that the outcome is conflicting to the findings, since the outcomes are often skewed. Meta-analysis have statistically demonstrated that violent video games have a negative influence on the behavioral outcome of youth, but because of the combining of meta-analysis, results are to be twisted and the findings communicate a more vigorous outcome. Television, computers and movies are just another source of media violence readily available to adolescence. They can be equally harmful if not more harmful than video games, especially if the user already has a propensity to be violent and/or is raised in an atmosphere that's conducive to violence and other risk factors are present as well. Psychotherapy will continue to become a prominent part of our society. However with newer and improved technologies, we may eventually develop advanced research which may demonstrate beyond reason the culprit of our tendencies for both violence and the real motives for violent behavior.
