Within this end there are many areas of comparison to reflect upon, each depicted to be seemingly useless yet each embodied with a deep and symbolic message. The first region that is to be assessed is the tone that Dannie Abse decides to use in this end. As opposed to embracing the identical tone throughout this final phase, it changes gradually yet quite significantly from the start to finish. To begin with, we could see his tone is casual and typical of a teenager personality. Dannie has reached a vital point in his life at which he has no option but to admit the shift that awaits him. He's no longer the kid who he used to be - no more '10 years high' (p11) but the 'emperor of his 18 yearsГўв‚¬В¦ king of the tall treesГўв‚¬В¦ and large boss of the bud'. From the final traces of this ending, the tone has gotten far more intense and laborious. At the beginning of his ending, Abse possesses a casual and nearly suppressed tone ; and he acts as if the events which have passed are not any big thing. He's reached the point where he is now independent and may no longer be as reliant on his parents as he was.
