Liberty, can become described as independence from control, captivity, or restraint; where all are equivalent and have got the capability to perform whatever can be in their can, that nothing can become impeded by competition, sex or class. While freedom is brought within the ideas of slavery mostly, as is within the contexts of Olaudah Equiano and Phillis Wheatley's works, it may also be that of women from their husbands and places in life, as with Mary Astell's work. Equiano offers a firsthand accounts on the results of captivity and the requirement of independence. While describing a childhood that was ended quickly by being snatched and positioned into slavery, his tale is certainly a representation of one within many tales that are no question identical in style. The most unforgettable, and possibly disturbing narration involves his encounters within the slave ship.
