She feels that the connection is nice because before the day of their fishing she's had no reason to overlook this. I think that this is accurate because his entire intention for taking out her on this specific state was to end their relationship. I know this because when Bill, his friend, is introduced towards the end he asks when she went 'all right' which indicates that he understood what Nick was intending to do that would be to terminate the connection. I think she feels depressed, confused and anxious to know why and what is going through Nick's head along with his feelings and emotions.
