There is no denying that the direction of the Chinese Communist Party under Chairman Mao Zedong altered the course of the history of China and formed the China the world sees today. The amount of lives, cultural customs, and differing intellectual thoughts which were dropped and ruined as he tried to meet his intentions for the country can't ever be retrieved or replaced. However, it was asserted that one of the more favorable effects of Chairman Mao on the people of China was his somewhat revolutionary opinion of woman. Ahead of the Communist Revolution, women's role in Chinese culture was almost entirely confined to life inside the house and concentrated on encouraging their family and being submissive to their fathers and husbands. Chairman Mao understood that girls were one of those oppressed groups in China that may be used to improve his control over the nation. While women's rights still have quite a ways to go, it could definitely be said a number of Mao's polices advanced Chinese women in ways that could have been unthinkable before his rise to leadership. The more important questions are seeing Chairman Mao's purpose behind these polices and if they were not able to fail from the beginning due to the political and cultural climate in 20th century China. It can also be argued that the political actions of Chairman Mao's Communist China were more of a continuation of conventional Imperial China, established heavily in Confucian values, compared to a new type of Marxist-Leninist China, dependent on the Soviet Union within an archetype. While it's unquestionable that a Marxist-Leninist political structure was present in China during that time, Confucian values remained to be bolstered through rituals and has been a basic part of the Chinese Communist.
