The courtroom is a ritualised area, involving costume, language, spatial organisation and so forth, and courts, consequently, constitute performative drills of power. Examine some of the ways courts demonstrate power and/or power connections. The courtroom is a ritualised space in which many features are effectively manipulated to demonstrate the states power over the individual. It's due to these displays of power which the court is often recognized as a location of justice in which social order is preserved. Upon detecting civil courtrooms 5.1 and 5.6 it was obvious that the structure and molecular organisation of the space plays a significant role in displaying the various power connections between the court actors. Interior features such as structural altitude, spatial organisation, lighting, entrances and design efficiently emphasize electricity disparities. Additionally language was a key factor in the conclusion of one’s status within the courtroom. Differentiations of power were obvious throughout the use of legal terminology, the comparison of formal language and colloquialism, and also the manipulation of rhetoric at cross-examinations. The structure of the courtroom establishes clear energy disparities inside the courtroom setting. The physical dimensions of Courtroom 5.1 were organised in such a way in which the hierarchal nature of the courtroom is visually evident from the moment you step into the room.
