Summary of James Hilton's Goodbye, Mr. Chips James Hilton’s novel Goodbye, Mr. Chips may be the tale of an English schoolmaster who dedicated his whole adult life teaching youthful boys. He was a shy person somewhat. He was a reliable school teacher nevertheless, attractive and professional in lots of different ways. Although his first teaching experience had not been successful, he was determined to become good schoolmaster. After arriving at Brookfield, he started to warm-up to his college students. But more essential he brought self-discipline to his college which is the requirement of good teaching-something he didn't obtain while teaching at Melbery. After teaching 25 years at Brookfield, Chips was unmarried still. Everyone thought that he'd never get married because he previously passed the most common marrying age. But, he did marry and it just happened under unusual circumstances. He went on a vacation to the Lake district of England and right now there, he met his long term wife, Katherine Bridges. Through the trip, he was climbing a steep hill when he noticed a woman from much waving at someone listed below. The woman was sitting on a dangerous-searching ledge and were asking for help. Chips believed that she would have to be rescued and proceeded to greatly help her. Of helping her instead, he hurt his ankle, and in the ultimate end, she finished up helping Chips. Within weeks after their first conference, they fell in love with one another and before the final end of summer, they got married. Katherine adored Chips and he enjoyed her in exchange deeply. Within a short while, the charming Katherine turned Mr. chips into an good-natured gentleman who was simply adored by his college students. He was transformed by the energy of love. Chips became a type or kind, congenial, friendly individual to everyone-so much to ensure that he became the most beloved teacher at Brookfield.
