Aim of the study was to create the TLC and HPTLC finger printing profiles for various secondary metabolites of methanolic stem extracts of their conventional medicinal climber, Solena amplexicaulis. These studies were completed according to the approaches of Harborne and Wagner et al.. The profiles of different individual secondary metabolites were made and developed for authentication. The methanolic stem extract demonstrated the presence of 5 alkaloids, 6 flavonoids, 2 glycosides, 10 saponins and 7 terpenoids. Because of the existence of rich variety of secondary metabolites, the stem infusion of S. amplexicaulis is anticipated to have therapeutic properties. In addition, by identifying and diluting these bioactive compounds new drugs can be formulated to deal with a variety of diseases.
