Greek mythology may be the myths and legends the historic Greeks centred their lives about. The ancient Greeks used it to describe the events and elements of the world around them. Their religion included heroes and gods, creation stories, and the origins of their rituals and civilisations. It is topic that were studied and examined in great depth for a large number of years. This fascinating religion's messages and influences are reflected in today’s society, and many similarities are available between Greek mythology and modern religions, such as for example Christianity. This proposal will outline the considerable research and project I hope to successfully complete. This issue of Greek mythology is too vast in order to research in the set time frame, so the focus of this comprehensive research task was the Olympian Gods. There are 12 Olympian gods (see appendix 1), Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hera, Hestia, Ares, Athena, Apollo, Aphrodite, Hermes, Hephaestus and artemis. Most of these gods are somehow related and linked together, and so are named after their house, Mount Olympus. These gods supposedly ruled once they overthrew the Titans, the initial rulers. Zeus, Hades and poseidon will be the 3 brothers who each rule over their personal element. Zeus is supreme ruler of the gods, and of the sky. He's the rainfall god and posesses thunderbolt as a weapon to punish those that displease him. He's known to punish those that lie or break vows. Poseidon guidelines over the sea, and posesses trident as a weapon, that may shake the earth. This could be observed in many modern movies, but he's detailed under his name in Roman mythology, Neptune.
