The European colonists and the Native Americans of North America had quite different perspectives on nearly everything they encountered in their own lives. Residing in vastly different cultures direct both teams to have two extremely different outlooks on four major subjects; religious beliefs, the environment, social relations, and captivity, differences that the colonists used for their benefit when beating the peoples of the New World. The colonists, by saying that the Native Americans were primitive and barbarous due to the differing and seemingly foolish attitudes, were able to do things that they could never have achieved to people that they thought to function as equals. Whether this is a conscious or subconscious method on the portion of the Europeans remains hotly debated, however, the simple fact remains that by pointing out the differences of the two chief cultures as a drawback denoting European superiority, the colonists were able to accept the Native American lands and products without much remorse. If this country began, there were few European colonists using the contemporary viewpoint of tolerance towards different cultures. Hardly anyone hunted to find out about the Indian tradition, hardly any adopted it as their own, along with the majorities were frequently fearful and worried toward their newest neighbors. These four chief differences in religious beliefs, the environment, social relations, and slavery, were that which triggered the ill treatment towards the Native Americans, an atrocious treatment that would continue for the next three decades in the united states. Spiritual beliefs were very important to the first European Colonists who came to America.
