Technology in the Mathematics Classroom While studying the NCTM summary on Tech, it's to my understanding that use of technology is at the instructor's discretion. Therefore, the teacher is charged with the duty of preparing pupils before venturing into the area of technology. Essentially, students should be able to grasp and understand fundamental concepts and ideas, before intertwining computers or calculators into a lesson to further explore the concepts in stated lesson. When visiting the U.S. Department of Education's National Education Technology Plan site, I didn't find any advice on how technology should or might be incorporated with math. Their entire site was devoted to incorporating technologies but only abandoned an open forum for thoughts. Now the ideas submitted by teachers were interesting, but the matter still remains on if a teacher feels that their students are prepared and receptive to incorporate technology using a lesson or idea. I believe a teacher wouldn't be as likely to use technology especially given that no ideas have b.. .
