The boys were talking "with Leo Dillon and a boy called Mahony I planned an afternoon's miching"(13). The boys came up with strategies to get out of school for their adventure. The boys headed out towards their destination; during their adventure they come across doubts. The boys come upon the world that is different than what they are utilised to, such as the elderly man. The older man appears quite confusing for the young boys; the older guy speaks about young girls stating, "what nice soft hair that they had and just how soft their hands were and the way all women were not so good since they appeared to be when one just knew" (18). The boys have been confused with all the statements that the old guy was saying. Mahony said "he's a queer old josser" (18). The images of the older guy proved very negative in the boys adventure. .
